Our Adoption Journey to Haiti

My Family April 3, 2013

In 1999, I met my husband-to-be during a game of volleyball on South Green at Ohio University. Patrick was the guy wearing athletic shorts, generic adidas slip-on sandals, and a very worn-in t-shirt with holes in the armpits.  Needless to say, it was instant love and we’ve been together ever since.

Over the past 14 years, Patrick and I have built an amazing life together. We had very humble beginnings, surviving on food stamps, driving my parent’s old mini-van, and living amongst drug dealers in downtown Denver, CO. But somehow along the way, we’ve managed to build an empire. By the grace of God, our parents loving support, and some pretty amazing friends, we’re raising our family and loving life every step of the way.

This is Noah-he is a sweet, kind, and generous five-year-old.

Here’s Brady – he is a  funny, outgoing, and flirty three-year-old.

Found your blog on my weekly “haiti IBESR update” google search… 🙂 We are also an AWAA Haiti family, and our Dossier was delivered to IBESR on Dec. 10th…there’s a small group of four of us AWAA Haiti families in OR and Southwest WA – all in pretty much the same place! Our family blog is http://www.mcgreeveyfamily.wordpress.com
Blessings to you and your family as we wait with you! 🙂 ~ Laura

      Hi Laura,
Great to meet you! Love your blog. What crèche are you working with? Who knows, we could be traveling to Haiti at the same time:)

We are adopting through Foyer De Sion – all of the families in our nearby area are – so hopefully we will all have built in playmates that all know each other 🙂

That is great! We can keep an eye on each other’s kiddos when we visit.
